Saint-Armel

Tascon island is linked to the land by a small road which can be used 2 hours before and after low tide. During winter it’s also a good place to watch migrators in the gulf, among them thousands of bernacles.
The ancient salinas of Lasné were artificially created in the 17th century by salt-marsh workers from Guérande for the monks of Saint-Gildas. In the 60s they had completely disappeared but a restoration project has taken place these years and a salt marsh worker has begun to produce salt again; this is now a place of discovery where you can also buy your salt.

Cyclists or walkers can take the “Petit passeur” (a boat) between St Armel and Séné ; a hundred meters on sea or 25 kms by road, what is your choice ?
While driving up to Séné, go and discover the wild birds in the bird sanctuary.

Suscinio Castle : Now the property of the Morbihan department this castle was one of the best-loved places of the Dukes of Brittany and their court from the 13th to the 15th centuries. Today the impressive fortress stands in the middle of the marshes next to the ocean. As we can see it now the castle looks like a large 15th century residence.
From the inside yard we can see two main buildings, six towers and two ramparts. The castle is surrounded by moats with a draw-bridge. Besides the memories of its royal inhabitants, three exhibitions are presented in the main building.
Two permanent exhibitions :
30 000 medieval pavements from the chapel floors outside. Dated from the years 1330-1350, they have various patterns: vegetals, fancy characters, monsters... A unique heritage in Europe.
